Key terms in this study
Words deserve careful attention.
Open a term to review how it is being used in this study. The goal is clarity, not jargon.
A spoken or written commitment. In this study, pledge language is examined for what it asks a person to give, obey, honor, or make supreme.
A prescribed ceremony or pattern of actions. This study asks whether ritual words and actions agree with Scripture.
A solemn binding statement. The concern is whether a Christian is being asked to bind the conscience beyond a truthful yes or no.
Loyalty or devotion directed toward a person, group, authority, or cause. Scripture must define what belongs to God alone.
The blending of biblical language with practices, loyalties, or symbols that do not come from God’s Word.
Misplaced worship, trust, reverence, or dependence. It is not limited to statues. It is a matter of the heart and allegiance.
Concealed information or practices. This study asks why words are hidden before agreement and whether secrecy protects truth or prevents examination.
To reject, disavow, or turn away from what one can no longer affirm before God. This should be handled soberly, truthfully, and without performance.
